We would rather be useful than merely reachable, so this page starts with what we can genuinely help with and is equally clear about what belongs somewhere else.
If You Own The House
Homeowners
If you want work done, a written enquiry to us is the slow route. Our phone line for introductions is not open yet. We do not do the work, and when the line opens we will be paid the same fixed fee whether it is one panel or a whole house. Until then, start with the arithmetic: the squares calculator takes your house's dimensions and tells you how much siding a quote should be counting, and it costs nothing and asks for nothing.
Two things on this site are worth ten minutes before you speak to anybody. The first is what a siding quote is made of, because the cheapest of three quotes is usually the one missing a line. The second is what federal law requires on a house built before 1978, because that is the line most often left off and most expensive to discover on the day.

What we cannot do
Emergencies
We are not an emergency service and have no crews. If a storm has opened a wall, a tarp over the exposed sheathing and photographs of everything come first and a call second. If siding is hanging near a power line, stay away from it and call the utility, not a contractor.
Inspect remotely
We cannot tell you what is behind your siding from a description. Every real assessment in this trade is a person on a ladder with a probe and a moisture meter, which is exactly why we publish what they look for.
Quote or price work
We do not set prices, take payment or hold estimates. The contractor that measures the house quotes it, and the agreement is between you and them.
Sell or supply materials
We are not a building-supply yard and do not hold inventory; the contractor that does the work orders what the job needs, and what it orders is between you and them.
Other Enquiries
Corrections, data questions and partnerships
If something on this site is wrong, we want to know, and we will correct it and say that we did. Our editorial standards describe how we handle corrections and what we count as a source worth citing.
Siding contractors interested in receiving referrals should read how we work first. We do not sell placement in our research, and we do not write about companies in exchange for anything.
Before you call anyone
The flat-fee match — we are paid for the introduction, not for the size of your job
Most siding advice is written by the company that wants to do the work or the company that makes the product. That is not a failing of the people who read it; it is a defect in who is talking: the measurement, the estimate and the invoice come from one party, and no amount of care on your side fixes that.
We are built the other way round. We do not install, repair or sell anything, so the payment reaches us when you are connected to a licensed, insured siding contractor — the same amount whether you need one panel replaced or four walls re-clad. Nobody here has a reason to talk you into the larger number. You can check that rather than take it on trust: how we make money is written down, and this site keeps telling readers when one wall is enough. Why does not everyone work this way? Because a flat fee leaves money on the table every time the job turns out to be big.
Waiting is the one thing that actually costs money. A wall that is open to the weather does not get better and does not wait for a convenient week; the water that gets behind the siding finds the sheathing, the framing and the drywall inside. A cracked panel over a window lets the next storm in. And if it turns out to be one panel and a quarter-hour, say so when you ask. We will tell you, and that answer earns us nothing.
Not for you if: you want a price over the phone — nobody honest gives one without measuring the house; you need a guarantee of arrival within the hour — we cannot promise that for a company we do not run; the building is commercial; or you would rather do it yourself, in which case the pages on this site are written so that you can.
